The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) announced on Tuesday that it has issued Rs27 billion in fresh currency notes of all denominations to 17,000 branches of commercial banks for public distribution, maintaining its usual practice.

Refuting claims that fresh banknotes would not be available this Eid ul Fitr, the central bank stated that it continues its tradition of supplying new currency notes through commercial banks across the country.

The SBP also assured that arrangements have been made to ensure uninterrupted access to good-quality banknotes through ATMs during the festive season. Additionally, Cash Monitoring teams have been deployed to inspect bank branches and oversee the smooth distribution of fresh currency notes to the public.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has forecasted that the Shawwal moon will be visible on March 30, meaning Eid ul Fitr is expected to fall on March 31, 2025.
